Solution Synthesized Graphene Nanoribbons and polymers

We use SPM to characterize extended polymers and nanoribbons deposited on surface maintained in UHV experiments via our electrospray device. The deposition and ncAFM at room temperature or STM at low temperature measurement can be performed on many surfaces with high resolution.

Thermal expansion propeties of 2D molecular networks

Spoked Wheel and Thermal expansion network

Graphene like molecules can be equipped with sides alkyls chains. After their deposition with HVESD, they assemble in large 2D molecular network. Interdigitation of the alkyl chains favor the formation of the island. STM and AFM studies at room and low temperature combined with MD similations revealed and explained the giant thermal expansion of the molecula rnetworks. We are intersting in tunning the thermal expansion coefficient by modifying sides groups properties and length.
